Defender
I was never good at this game, a theme you'll see running throughout the videogame section. But more than all these other arcade games, this one had sheer speed. Mesemerizing as a kid.

Dig Dug
Videogames seem to be a little more stale of late, save for some innovation from Nintendo, things tend to rely on realistic concepts, franchises or cartoons.

Try and get Dig Dug made today. The pitch: spaceman/miner must rid the underground board of montsters by pumping them up with an airgun. Maybe if there was blood and it was in first person.

Donkey Kong
I can just hear the BOPBOPBOPBOPBOP sound effect of grabbing the mallet and smashing things. Donkey Kong was my introduction to Mario, a love affair that still lasts to this day. One thing though, control seemed wonkier back in the day. It was calculated but not intuitive. My guess this was to encourage more quarters in the machine.

Donkey Kong Jr.
My parents took the kids on a cruise when I was in fourth grade. They had DK Jr on one of them table machines with the plexiglass top.

I don't remember anything else about that cruise except for the Filet Mignon.

Frogger
Another game popular with the tabletop variety. Mr Gatti's the pizza place had one I think. This game was just frustrating. Another simple premise, taken to addictive levels.

Galaga
Galaxian's lovechild. Cooler than Space Invaders. And Powerups. Hell yeah.

Gauntlet
So many of the orignal arcade games played off of mazes. Gaunlet threw in that whole fantasy theme and spooky looking ghosts.

LadyBug
I lost about $1.75 at the arcades to this game. I'll be honest, it wasn't until emulation that I finally figured out LadyBug. My small child mind could not get the concept of revolving doors.

OutRun
Ferrari's seemed cool back then.

Offroad
Dude, it's like 3-D! Yeah. Not much to this game, but it was fun for multiple players and

Ms. Pac Man
Better Blah Blah. More Mazes. Smarter ghosts. And lipstick.

Q*Bert
@#%* dog! This is like in THREE D!

Spy Hunter
Cars. Guns. Music.

Tempest
A different spin on the normal joystick jerkin.

Zaxxon
Another one o them "3D" games. I'll be honest, I just played in the arcade a little bit, the rest was at home on the ColecoVision.
