Hecuba was a queen of the ancient city of Troy. Legend tells that she was transformed into a dog because of her association with the fall of that city. In this sculpture Nakian's treatment of the materials creates an expressive sculpture that captures the moment of Hecuba's transformation. The bronze cast clearly reveals the impressions of the modeling material, cloth and wire used to make the work.
