12 Untitled (water sculpture) 1972
Oliver Andrews (1925-1978)
stainless steel, water
Federal Reserve Plaza, East Fifth Street

Untitled

California artist Andrews, who was well-known for his water sculptures, created two forms sheathed in flowing water and symmetrically placed within a reflecting pool. The tall, torqued piece symbolizes man's relationship to nature with its organic grace and gentle cascade. The shorter, prismatic piece with its sharp angles and more powerful cascade represents man's relationship to his work and his growth through forceful effort.
