I think TV works best in a social environment. Maybe the Simpsons were funnier that night. Maybe Absolutely Fabulous makes more sense if you hear Matt laughing. Maybe you can not watch the Sopranos but it all makes sense when there's a roomful of people filling in the plot. There is no maybe about this though, Most Extreme Elimination Challenge on Spike TV can be excruciatingly good the first time 'round.
