22 Untitled (Fountains) 1989

Piatt Park, Garfield Place at Race Street

Untitled (Fountain)

Two fountains, located on either side of Race Street, were designed to echo the cityscape in this urban park setting. The simple shapes and engraved surfaces suggest both the natural and built environments; most obvious is the rain that spills from the clouds over the outlines of buildings, plants and waterways. A memorial gift from Rose Kadetz, wife of long-time restaurateur Izzy Kadetz, helped to fund the fountain on the east side of Race. Both fountains were conceived as part of the 1988 redevelopment and improvement plan for Garfield Place and Piatt Park.
