JENN!

it was such a treat to look in my inbox and see your 'ENDLICH' dangling there amongst the spam and work related subjects.

You'll find that this electronic stuff is my preffered way of communication. It's really no different than sending a letter - more efficient really. And for all those who feel it's impersonal, well, i just don't agree.

Things are moving fast here. I've been keeping myself occupied with work and whatnot. More whatnot it seems really.

I just got back from a little trip to Austin to visit me and heatherHeather and Brandon. I had a great time hanging out. I also got to see brandon's new band play out and they were quite good. Weird in a spacey jazzy way - but good nonetheless. Heather's doing good and all that. She moved into a house that blows their old place away. Nice place that San Marcos. I hope to get out there again to float down the river this summer.

Not too much else to report from there.

I'll have to admit that I've written you about four letters over the past year, but never mail 'em. I looked 'em over before I wrote this and felt pretty good that I didn't send them. They really didn't say anything. Just that my laundry needed done and I was bored at the moment... Well, here - let me share a few choice quotes:

"Why am I writing? I dunno. Something inside me tells me I need to turn off the screen for a moment.

I see all these faces going by in my head of all the people I know. I see them smiling, one fading into the other.

And I'm thinking about all of the time I spend consuming, working, doing stuff like dishes and laundry -- all of the time I think about bills or careers or what the next thing will be, and it just doesn't add up."

Whew. Glad i didn't send that.

or how bout this tasty morsel:

"Here's the scene now...I'm sitting in a comfortable chair. Laundry sits crudely folded in a basket, waiting for the proper storage it will not receive.

A Corona empties quickly within reach. I leave for a business trip tomorrow.

It is a non-descript moment from intial glance.

What makes all the difference though, is that I am writing to you. Damn these time zones that eliminate the luxury of conversation. This is the only way to get through."

This of course, was all before you got out of the stone ages. Just because person A is more likely to lick a stamp and walk over to the post office doesn't make their method of communication any better than say, me. (who by the way doesn't mail bills either)

Anyways.

It's good to have a line up on ya.

Now, when I'm feeling - I can find you.

I had this great idear to take a holiday over to that europe of yours, but i figured your schedule was all messy. I thought it best to wait a bit and get in touch with you first. Anyway, I need to renew my passport and that requires visiting a post office.

Yuck.

Perhaps you'll have a free day this summer. I've been meaning to head out and see Ray sometime in California, but who knows.

Well, that's about all for now.

Write me soon,

c

by the way, heidi says hi.
