Von Sartory, a Berlin-based sculptor and architect, won the competition to commemorate the Cincinnati Bar Association's 100th anniversary. His design uses the basic building blocks of architecture to create a ceremonial gateway. The posts of polished stainless steel and lintel of rough-hewn Indiana limestone symbolize the balance between nature (rocks) and technology (steel) and the mutually supportive relationship between our laws and social structure.
